Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy
Drs. Guhl, Parisien, and Boynton have prepared a third edition of this successful volume, heretofore published by Slack (who no longer publishes books on orthopaedic surgery, only journals). The editors have invited a prestigious group of contributors, including such stellar names in the field as Ferkel, Lundeen, Tasto, etc. The new edition will address the most recent and valuable developments in foot and ankle arthroscopy, including the practical applications of instrumentation and technique in the clinical setting. Unique to this book are the imaging techniques, laser surgery, mid-foot arthroscopy, and most importantly - endoscopic surgery of the ankle and foot. Sections and chapters on anatomy, differential diagnosis, soft tissue pathology, rehabilitation, and again, unique to this volume, office and outpatient arthroscopy make this a comprehensive reference.
A Sense of Eternity
On Sunday 23rd August 2009 England and Wales (The team is that of the English and Welsh County Cricket Board) regained The Ashes from Australia after wining the Test series 2-1. The Ashes is a Test cricket series played between England and Australia. It is one of international cricket's most celebrated rivalries and dates back to 1882. The series is named after a satirical obituary published in The Sporting Times in 1882 after a match at The Oval, in which Australia beat England on an English ground for the first time. The obituary stated that English cricket had died, and the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. The English media dubbed the next English tour to Australia (1882–83) as the quest to regain The Ashes.
During that tour a small terracotta urn was presented to England captain Ivo Bligh by a group of Melbourne women. The contents of the urn are reputed to be the ashes of an item of cricket equipment, possibly a bail, ball or stump. Some Aborigines hold that The Ashes are those of King Cole, a cricketer who toured England in 1868. In 1998 it was claimed, Bligh's wife Florence Morphy, believed they were the remains of a lady's veil. Replicas of the urn are often held aloft by victorious teams as a symbol of their victory in an Ashes series, but the actual urn has never been presented or displayed as a trophy in this way. Whichever side holds the Ashes, the urn normally remains in the Marylebone Cricket Club Museum at Lord's in London, since being presented to the MCC by Bligh's widow upon his death.
The joy of Sunday’s victory was added to for me by the outstanding sportsmanship of Australian Captain Ricky Ponting in his gracious acceptance of defeat, which in its way was as heroic as winning; though I doubt it felt that way to him. Both sides should be congratulated for providing such a thrilling series. In Cricket, as in Life, the future will hold victories and defeats for both teams, but as Ricky Ponting showed it is not the winning or the losing that matters, but how you deal with it.
EXPLAINING CRICKET TO A FOREIGNER
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that’s been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
“How can a game that lasts five days end in a draw?” - a bemused foreign observer.
“The English are not very spiritual people, so they invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity” - George Bernard Shaw

That summer they came for East coast part of Australia, doing road trip straight from Brisbane to Melbourne. The crew were all skate rats, top from the bottom. They slept in tents, shower by the beach, since there are caravan parks all over the place.
Basically before them were already packs of skaters had shed down under. Since the continent always serve as the gateway for anyone who's seeking a new reborn, say European or American, whose predecessor invent skateboarding.
Though they were slightly different, these rats can survive 1 month without cloth-changing and showering, but when it comes to wood pushing. They are needy, and deadly serious. In the seventies Australia authority had build few gigantic water power plants in inland New South Wales, if you ever seen how big the pipe is in the facility.
But they had skated it without any concern, probably leaving it with a few scratches on the forearm, but that was it. They were so young, and so carefree. Though he stand out right away, even among these peers, the most notorious skate rat ever step on a wooden toy.
Before skateboarding rumor has him be a pro snowboarder, though he quit. Because to enjoy snowboarding you have to pay heaps of money for the equipment beforehand, like the boots, board and clothing. Before you know what the snow taste like. Let along the lift ticket and whatnot once you are in the resort.
Those bugging thing have made snowboarding like some privilege sport even fancier than golfing. Wood pushing for him is more close to the nature, you do not have to care about too many, you just push. Once he claimed.
Though while everyone on the team were flying home from Melbourne. He was staying in the hospital because he would have ran over by a road train days ago in the middle of nowhere. He was tailing the team van in the middle of the road just before nightfall. The driver of the road train probably did not notice him, but everything happened too quick.
It was really heart-breaking for his mom - who would fly over from bay area - when acknowledged by Doctor that her son may never be able to walk again. Afterwards, he comforted his mom by promising that, he would be able to fly home, to climb up the plane on foot. At first we did not realize he truly mean it. Just some rhetoric talk to cheer his mom up.
But he did it. He left the hospital with a crunch, not on the wheelchair. From that moment we suddenly realized, maybe to see him back on the board would not be so impossible. After all, he's the man since we knew him at the first day.
